We splurged on a steak frite dinner in the comfort of our own home. We grilled some lightly seasoned, previously frozen filet mignon's (from Costco), a romaine salad with balsamic vinaigrette, some matchstick french fries and a caramelized shallot reduction. It was sooooooooo good! The fries were made cut on our mandoline into mini-slices and fried up in our fryer (a guilty pleasure of mine). A beautiful golden color and pretty crispy (although there is room for improvement). The caramelized shallots were cooked half on the stovetop and half in small le crusuet ramekins that I just bought from the Le Crusuet outlet (and my grandma got me one for my birthday!). They were beautiful, amazingly delicious, the perfect compliment to the medium-rare steak and definitely a post-er for Reenie's Recipes. We drank a blend from Cote du Ventoux, a region in the southern Rhone of France near Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
